Out and about

Salthouse is the perfect base for exploring hauntingly beautiful NORTH NORFOLK - the land of big skies, BEACHES and dunes, wildlife and colours that have unique charm according to local journalist  PATRICK BARKHAM  - you can read his latest article in the Guardian by clicking here.

As well as world-class bird watching opportunities - including at Cley Marshes - a visit to the BLAKENEY POINT seal colony by boat gets you up-close to fascinating creatures in their natural environment.

For younger guests seeking adventure BEWILDERWOOD offers a huge array of outdoor fun. No visit to the area would be complete without trying your hand at crabbing and Blakeney and Cromer quays are always popular venues. The SPLASH leisure centre in Sheringham is a short drive away and offers a pool with wave-machine as well as flumes and general fitness equipment..

The area has a rich heritage and culture too, with several NATIONAL TRUST properties within easy reach. The Royal SANDRINGHAM estate is just 25 miles away.

The coastal towns of Sheringham and Cromer both have GOLF courses open to visitors by arrangement.

If you have always wanted to ride in a tank, the MUCKLEBURGH collection near Weybourne has regular demonstrations throughout the summer.
